The LIS Advisory Committee and School Library Media Advisory Sub-Committee

LIS Advisory Committee:

Composed of fifteen members from the information professions and other related areas who meet regularly in fall and spring semesters. Appointments to the LIS Advisory committee are for three-year terms that are renewable once. The charge of the LIS Advisory Committee is to participate in the formulation of policy, of goals and objectives for the program, in curricular development, and to actively represent the constituency of the program. One member serves as a liaison to the School of Education Advisory Committee. Members representing the school library media profession serve on the School Library Media Advisory Sub-Committee. Student representatives from the Greensboro and Charlotte campuses are included in the meetings and activities of the LIS Advisory Committee.

School Library Media Advisory Sub-Committee:

Composed of no fewer than four LIS Advisory Committee members from the school library media profession who meet regularly in fall and spring semesters. Student representatives, one from the Greensboro and Charlotte campuses, are included in these meetings. The charge of the SLMASC is to review the school library media program to align with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and the NCATE standards, to participate in the formulation of policy, of goals and objective for the SLM program, in curricular development, and to actively represent the constituency of the SLM program. The SLMASC reports to the LIS Advisory Committee at each fall and spring semester meetings.
