Dr. Julie Reinhart leaving LIS faculty at the end of the summer
Dr. Julie Reinhart has been an important part of the UNCG LIS Faculty since 2000. She is considered by students and colleagues to be the “tech savvy” member of the faculty, and teaches Media Production Services for Library Programs, Computer-Related Technology in Library Management, and Emerging Technological Trends in Information Access, among other courses. She spent some time teaching at North Carolina A&T University and Indiana University at Bloomington before coming to UNCG. Dr. Reinhart earned her Ph.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University in 1999. She also holds a B.S. in Psychology, a B.S. in Art Education, and a M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction.
Dr. Reinhart’s research focuses on using technology to improve human performance, and she is currently studying distance education as well as the integration of technology in K-12 education. She has published articles in several scholarly journals including “News Blogs and Distance Education Programs” (with A. Whicker) in Distance Learning and “Challenges, Content, Collaboration and Creativity with Distance Education Resources: A case study” (with P. Barron, G. Dickinson and J. Hersberger) in College and University Media Review.
Many current students and alumnae will recognize Dr. Reinhart from her work with Dr. Julie Hersberger in Julie & Other Julie Productions. The Julies have produced several entertaining Reading Day films that always improve the morale of any group who might be lucky enough to watch one of these creations. Dr. Reinhart will be moving to Chicago with her family at the end of the summer due to a new position her husband has secured and is looking forward to taking some time off and spending more time with her two children. Please join us in thanking Dr. Reinhart for her many years of service and dedication to the UNCG LIS community!
