Student video project features interview with Dr. Jim Carmichael

LIS graduate student Daniel Windham features our own Dr. Jim Carmichael in a video interview in several parts. Windham’s video is the end result of professional work performed under the guidance of Distance Education Librarian Beth Filar Williams and Dr. Sandra Andrews. Windham worked with Williams to create a video for Dr. Sandra Andrews’ Media Production class this fall.

“I decided to interview Jim because he was one of the most fascinating people I have ever known, and I knew that he had an interesting story to tell,” Windham says. “From a personal level, I support equal rights for the LGBT community, [and] as Jim was one of the first professional librarians to speak openly about his sexuality, I thought it would be proper to document it,” Windham says.

Below is the first segment of the video interview. Windham hopes to complete the series in the near future, as he plans to graduate in December.
