Department ListServs

The LIS department has the following three listservs; one closed and two open. To subscribe to the open list, please use the instructions below.

DLIS-L: a closed, unmoderated official discussion/emailing list for the members of the UNCG Department of Library and Information Studies (faculty, staff, students, LIS Advisory Committee and others) to send and receive information about departmental, programmatic and student-interest matters. All members are automatically subscribed. If you should be subscribed but are not receiving email from this list, please email Heather Hans h_hans@uncg.edu.

LIS-NEWS-L: Greensboro/Charlotte LIS News and Events – an open, unmoderated list for anyone in/from the region who wishes to receive and/or send news about LIS events and opportunities in the department, regionally and elsewhere.

LISJOBS-L: the primary list (open and unmoderated) used to send job opportunities.

Please email Heather Hans h_hans@uncg.edu if you are having trouble with any of the lists.

Instructions to subscribe to lis-news-L or lisjobs-L:

  1. Send an email message to: listproc@lists.uncg.edu
  2. Leave the subject line blank. If your email program will not allow a blank subject line, put a dot (.) in for the subject.
  3. On the first line of the body of the message enter:

    subscribe nameoflist yourfirstname yourlastname
    (for example, subscribe lis-news-l Ron Wright)

  4. Send the message

Instructions to send messages to your subscribed lists:

  • Send a message to the list by using the address nameoflist@lists.uncg.edu or simply reply to a message you have received.

    Note: Remember that sending a message to the list or replying to a list message means that everyone who has subscribed will see your message. If your comments are intended for only one person, email that person directly.

Instructions to unsubscribe from a listserv:

  1. Send an email message to: listproc@lists.uncg.edu
  2. Leave the subject line blank. If your email program will not allow a blank subject line, put a dot (.) in for the subject.
  3. On the first line of the body of the message enter:

    unsubscribe nameoflist yourfirstname yourlastname
    (for example, unsubscribe lis-news-l Ron Wright)
